Mr. M.D. was facing a mandatory prison term on a Class 2 dangerous felony. He was alleged to be part of a group of individuals that were holding illegal immigrants for ransom. The State further alleged Dangerousness for the use of guns in holding the persons against their will. After a two-week trial in which two of the other co-defendants were convicted, the jury was hung on the charges against Mr. M.D. and a second trial date was set.
Prior to the second trial Mr. M.D. the case was successfully settled when the State offered a plea agreement to probation.
