Mr. M.D. was facing a mandatory prison term on a Class 2 dangerous felony.  He was alleged to be part of a group of individuals that were holding illegal immigrants for ransom.  The State further alleged Dangerousness for the use of guns in holding the persons against their will.  After a two-week trial in which two of the other co-defendants were convicted, the jury was hung on the charges against Mr. M.D. and a second trial date was set.

Prior to the second trial Mr. M.D. the case was successfully settled when the State offered a plea agreement to probation.
